Athletic Training

2nd Floor MG Sports Medicine

Don’t let an ache or pain prevent you from participating in your favorite activities, or worse, turn into an injury.  A MaineGeneral Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer is on site to assess your activity related health concerns and provide immediate care and guidance to get you back in the game.  Best of all, it’s part of your membership at the AYCC. Stop by during the posted clinical hours or email Rich at richard.garini@mainegeneral.org to set up an appointment.

Climbing for Fitness

Rock Wall - Open Climb

Climb towards your fitness goals by taking advantage of our open rock wall hours! Our staff will be there to supervise and guide you while you climb at your own pace.

This is not a group exercise class, but a supervised, self-led climb.

In this yoga class, participants will engage in classic Vinyasa poses & flow with intention, moving slowly to lengthen muscles in combination with holding passive stretches to ease tension. A perfect way to strengthen, stretch & release!

If you love to dance AND workout, this is the class for you! With upbeat music and unique dance steps, you'll get your heart rate up while having a blast!

LIFT (Low Impact Functional Training)

Gronk Zone

Jump squats and burpees be gone! This low-impact, beginner/intermediate class utilizes resistance bands, suspension devices, weights, and more to get you functionally fit. Each workout focuses on full body muscular strength and endurance, and is broken up into 2 circuits that are repeated 2-4 times. Circuit A is for strength, Circuit B is for endurance!

We begin our class on the spin bikes, including safe use and setup, followed by a variety of activities including yoga, yoga games and other fitness activities such as jumping rope, obstacle courses, floor based exercises, exercise bands, light strength exercises, and stretching.

A challenging but fun and supportive 60 minute workout! This workout consists of cardiovascular conditioning, strength training (weights, stability balls, resistance bands, medicine balls, Glides, kettlebells), and stretching.

Enhanced Fitness

Group Fitness Room 

A full hour of fun, Enhance Fitness focuses on dynamic cardiovascular exercise, strength training, balance, and flexibility — everything older adults need to maintain health and function as they age. The hour includes a 10-minute stretching workout to keep the muscles flexible, and dynamic and static balance exercises throughout. Class for ages 50 and up.

HIIT It - Low Impact

Indoor Track

Tired of running in circles? During this High Intensity Interval Training class you will run, walk, or jog around the track, stopping at various stations along the way. With the addition of bands, weights, and TRX, your laps around the track will never be boring!

All fitness levels are welcome. This class will be offered in a low-impact format, to get your heart rate up while protecting your joints.

Pedal for Parkinson's

Spin Studio

Riding an indoor, stationary bicycle has been shown to reduce Parkinson's disease symptoms by as much as 35%!  And, it's something almost anyone with Parkinson’s Disease can do at our Pedaling for Parkinson's indoor cycling class. Participants ride for 1 hour: a 10 minute warm up at 60 RPM, followed by 40 minutes at 80-90 RPM, and a 10 minute cool down.

Spin & Yin

Spin Studio

Get your heart pumping with a cardio and full body workout on the bike for the first 30 minutes of class; then stretch 30 minutes of yin yoga, a slow paced-style of yoga with postures that are held for a longer periods of times than others.

Enhanced Fitness

This evidence-based, hour-long, 3-day per week  program helps older adults at all levels of fitness become more active, energized, and empowered to sustain independent lives. You will  improve physical conditioning and decrease risk of falling using a series of proven cardiovascular and strength building exercises.

Posture and Tone

Zoom

Uses a variety of light to moderate weights/objects at home along with exercise equipment to strengthen muscles and joints, build bone density, and increase overall fitness. Instruction is modified to fit each participants' current fitness level. This a great class to work on your fitness goals

Total Body

Zoom AND Live

This class is a general strength-at-home class that mixes basic strength training exercises with warmups and cool downs. Upper body, lower body and core are covered throughout the week! This class is for active, older adults.

Meet Maggie in the morning and Jeanine in the evening to snowshoe the Quarry Road Trails from the on site yurt.  Intermediate Level Program for adults 18 or older. Supply your own shoes, poles, water, and cold weather gear.

Trail Running Club

Waterville Area Trails

Meet Kenny & Jamie on the trails for a fun run (with a warm up and cool down). Upon arrival, you will choose 1 of 3 instructor-led routes: 

  1. Beginner: run/walk 1.5-2 miles

  2. Intermediate: run 2-3 miles

  3. Advanced: run 3-5 miles
