CHILDCARE & EDUCATION

MENTAL HEALTH/ PSYCHOLOGY Undergraduate Student Intern
Supervisor: Jordan G Shaw, M.Div., LCPC-c, NCC

Description/Responsibilities:
-
Provide youth support during program time, may include implementation of behavior plans or 504/IEP accommodations.

Meet weekly with supervisor and other interns for individual and group supervision

Act as a one-to-one support for children experiencing activation or distress, when called upon

Provide group support to professional and para-professional group counselors in the AYCC After School Program
Education and Experience Required: Current enrollment in 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate-level Psychology, Family Studies, Rehabilitation Studies, Mental Health program. Interest and/or experience in working with children and early adolescents from diverse backgrounds.

EDUCATION INTERN
STEM, Art, and Physical Education

Description/Responsibilities:

Provide support and work under guidance of full-time teacher in all duties and tasks.

Assist with creation of curriculum, activities, and classroom prep.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
Childcare
Supervisor: Christine Johnson, Child & Youth Development Director

Description/Responsibilities:

Assist ASP & Early Childhood leadership with administrative tasks, programming, and provide day-to-day support

Intern will gain a deep understanding of program logistics, licensing requirements, crisis management, trauma-informed care, and case management
Education and Experience Required: Current enrollment in bachelor’s level Education or similar major.

EARLY EDUCATION

Description/Responsibilities:

Provide support and work under guidance of Crystal Stanley and other full-time teachers in all duties and tasks.

CAMP TRACY

SAFETY INTERN

Description/Responsibilities:

Counsel and and guide any member with behavior, attitude, or emotional problems

Resolve any conflicts promptly, oversee and maintain safety standards for the AYCC

Perform periodic inspections/walk-through asessing health and safety

Develop written action plans for handling problems

Promote the programs, activities, purposes, and values to its members, parents, and the community.

ATHLETICS & WELLNESS

ATHLETICS
Supervisor: Isaac LeBlanc, Athletic Director

Description/Responsibilities:

3-6 month internships; typically in May - July or May – October

Assist Athletic Director with the game and event management, marketing, and sponsor management.

Staff and schedule games, events and officials

Create and execute curriculum for youth sports, including athletes of varying ages and abilities.

Pursue and secure sponsorships for youth sports programs.
Education and Experience Required: Current enrollment in bachelor’s level Sport Management, Recreation, or related program.

WELLNESS INTERN
Supervisor: Jared Gartley

Description/Responsibilities:

Shadow and assist personal training and group exercise sessions.

Assist in planning personal training, group exercise sessions.
-
Responsible for overall Wellness Center organization, cleanliness, safety, etc. Includes but is not limited to machine upkeep/maintenance, chemical management, etc.

Become YMCA Group Exercise Certified.
-
Learn and recognize appropriate exercise techniques; gain the tools necessary to teach and properly coach clients.
Education and Experience Required: Current enrollment in bachelor's level Excercise Science, Kinesiology, or related program.

NEW ENGLAND SPORTS CAMPS
Supervisor: Abbie Charrier

Description/Responsibilities:

Assist Camp Director with daily tasks, marketing, parent communication, and recruiting.

Schedule day and overnight counselors.

Coordinate with coaches regarding practice and game needs, contracts, rosters and other administrative tasks.

Supervise youth athletes during daily activities as well as overnight.

PHILANTHROPY & SPECIAL EVENTS

POND HOCKEY
Marketing Intern
Supervisor: Patrick Guerette

Description/Responsibilities:

Conduct market research in opportunities to best engage target markets.

Develop creative content for Maine Pond Hockey Classic using a variety of media.

Manage marketing content using social media, video, print, & digital platforms.

Update & Maintain MPHC website.

Incorporate event sponsors & partners into content distribution.
Education and Experience Required: Pursuing degree or career in marketing, communications, sports management, business or other related field. Interest /background in sporting events/tournaments, knowledge and experience with ice hockey preferred.

POND HOCKEY
Operations Intern

Description/Responsibilities:

Recruit, train, and manage event volunteers.

Develop event operating protocols with MPHC Committee

PHILANTHROPY

Assist with special events; including but not limited to the Polar Bear Dip, Annual Appeal, Lucky 7k, golf tournaments

ADMINISTRATIVE

GRANTS MANAGEMENT
Supervisor: Katherine Harvey
Capacity: 1
Description/Responsibilities: Possible to complete remotely.

3-6 month internship, determined by applicant’s availability

Assist Grants manager and team with all aspects of reporting – deadline management, data collection, narrative creation, etc.
-
Research and identify grants to further the AYCC’s operational mission.
-
Assist in grants management – including but not limited to communicating deliverables, creating work-plans, ensuring compliance, etc.

Intern will gain a deep understanding of the grant application, management, and reporting process.
Education and Experience Required: Current enrollment in bachelor’s level English, Journalism, Communications, or related program.

IT INTERN
Supervisor: Christine Johnson,
Capacity: 1
Description/Responsibilities:
-
Maintain ASP computer room. Including but not limited to: ensuring all equipment is in proper working order, does not contain inappropriate or non-approved software or downloads, etc.

Provide software tutorials for ASP participants (Adobe, 3D printing software, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
-
Assist staff with transfer of files to the OneDrive.
Education and Experience Required: Current enrollment in bachelors level computer science or related program.

COMMUNICATIONS
Supervisor: Crista Lavenson
Capacity: 1 intern/semester
Description/Responsibilities:
-
Assist with the creation and release of all newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials. This will require the intern to develop and maintain close working relationships with all local news outlets.

Work in conjunction with program leaders to ensure relevant information is shared, in a timely manner, across all outlets.

Manage all social media accounts – create and utilize social media calendar, accessible to all program managers.
