If you’ve ever said, “I could never run a 5k,” we’re here to tell you, yes, you absolutely can! Whether you’re new to running, getting back into fitness, or just need a little motivation, our Couch to 5k training plan is the perfect way to get moving at your own pace, and it all leads up to one of our favorite events of the year: the 20th Anniversary of the Doc & Mardie Brown 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run, happening Saturday, August 23!
Why Couch to 5K?
Our Couch to 5K program is a free, self-paced 6-week training plan that helps beginners gradually build up their endurance to complete a 5K (3.1 miles) – no experience needed. It’s designed for real people with busy lives, and it’s all about progress, not perfection!
You’ll receive:
- A structured, weekly schedule with walk/run intervals
- Encouragement and motivation to stay consistent
- The satisfaction of completing something BIG!
Your Goal: The Doc & Mardie 5K
The Couch to 5K isn’t just about fitness – it’s about community. All of your hard work leads up to the Doc & Mardie 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run, hosted by us, the AYCC! Did we mention that it’s the 20th anniversary?

- Date – Saturday, August 23
- Time – 8:15 am 5K, and 9:00 am Kids Fun Run
- $25/Adults or $5/Youth
- Perks – T-shirts, post-race snacks, music, and more!
