Our Next Chapter Starts Here: AYCC Launches 2026 Annual Appeal with Powerful Community Support

On Wednesday, May 27, the Alfond Youth & Community Center (AYCC) welcomed community partners, longtime supporters, friends, families, and staff into the gymnasium for an inspiring evening centered around impact, generosity, and vision for the future.

With the theme, “Our Next Chapter Starts Here,” the event marked a significant milestone as the AYCC launched its first Annual Appeal under the leadership of new CEO, Steve Scraggs.

The evening brought together people from across Central Maine to celebrate the countless lives impacted by AYCC programs and services. Through moving videos, personal stories, and heartfelt remarks, attendees experienced firsthand how the AYCC continues to create opportunities, foster connections, and strengthen the community every day.

A Strong Start Toward a Bold Goal

As part of the evening’s Annual Appeal kickoff, guests were invited to help launch the AYCC’s 100 Days of Giving Campaign, which runs from May 27 through September 4, 2026.

The response was extraordinary.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of supporters in attendance, the campaign reached it’s first milestone with $300,000 pledge that evening. That amount will be generously matched by the Harold Alfond® Foundation, doubling the immediate impact of those gifts.

In addition, reaching this benchmark unlocks the next exciting opportunity: a $50,000 bonus match from the Foundation as AYCC works toward its overall campaign goal of $1.2 million.

“This evening reflected the strength and heart of our community, said Steve Scraggs, CEO of the AYCC. “We are deeply grateful for every donor, partner, volunteer, and advocate who believes in our mission. Together, we are building the next chapter of impact for the children, families, and individuals we serve.”
