Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp is part of the Alfond Youth & Community Center family.

A classic Maine summer camp experience! In addition to participating in the fun activities offered at Camp Tracy, adventure campers learn valuable outdoor skills like fire-building, navigation, camp cooking, and more! The last night of the week (Thursday) is an overnight adventure trip to an off-site destination.

Adventure Camp is for Grades 5 – 9

A Classic Maine summer camp experience!

Campers will spend time learning skills like:

  • Fire building and fire safety
  • Wilderness shelter building
  • Basic First-Aid and CPR skills
  • Knife & blade safety & skills
  • Camp cooking and cleaning
  • Leadership and teamwork development
  • PLUS a variety of other activities at Camp Tracy
Accommodations

For the first four nights, campers will sleep in our newly renovated cabins. For the last night of the week, campers will have the opportunity to take an overnight adventure trip, where they’ll camp outdoors in tents, lean-tos, or hand-made shelters.

  • Co-Ed Girls & Boys (housed in separate cabins)
  • Max of 20 per camp
  • Drop off is Sunday at 5:00 pm
  • Pick up is Friday at 5:00 pm
  • All meals provided.

Day campers may join the Thursday overnight adventure as an add-on.

Thursday, July 18 – Visit Camp Knickerbocker with overnight stay on Jackson Island, Knickerbocker Lake

Thursday, August 1 – Visit YMCA Camp of Maine with overnight stay on Sister Island, Cobbosseecontee Lake

 

Affordable Access Opportunities for Overnight Camps

The AYCC is excited to offer two Affordable Access Opportunities for overnight camps at Camp Tracy! Please note that these grants are currently available for the 2024 camp season and may not be available for future years.

Allen Group Overnight Camp Access

  • Limited to 6 individuals.
  • Camper must be a registered participant for New England Sports Camps, Adventure or Excursion overnight camps.
  • Requirements – submit a one-page letter about why they would like to attend an overnight camp at Camp Tracy. Letters may be submitted in person at the Welcome Center or submitted by email to camps@clubaycc.org
  • Deadline May 31, 2024

YMCA 2024 Overnight Camp Access Scholarships Grant

  • Camper must be a registered participant for New England Sports Camps, Adventure or Excursion overnight camps.
  • Family must complete AYCC Affordable Access Program Application (formerly known as Financial Aid Application)
    • Include one month household income information (pay stubs, state/federal aid information, or latest income tax return (income pages).
    • Submit to the Welcome Center or email to programbilling@clubaycc.org
